Last week Shelby was acting funny. Shaking her head and scratching at her ear. So Luke looked inside and thought there was a stick in there. So we got the flashlight and the tweezers and played Dr. Turned out to be a Tick. Very nasty little things. She stopped acting funny other than she acted like she couldn't hear very good and Luke kinda lost her a couple of times. So I decided I better take her into the vet to see if there were more ticks in there. Sure enough. 1 in each ear. So deep he had to sedate her to get them out. At first he thought 1 was just a wax plug and that was why she couldn't hear. Come to find out it was a huge tick! Blocking her whole ear canal. Poor thing. I didn't think she would ever forgive me for taking her in and making her get poked and proded, but she did. She kinda scared me after I took her home. She was still so sleepy and could not walk very well. This is a picture of her sleeping it off on her bed. She was back to normal the next day though. Although we spent about 200 dollars for everything, it was worth it. She is such a good Dog!

Poor Shelby! Glad she's feeling better!
i haaaaate ticks. Ive never personally encountered them until we moved to Nebraska. They are EVERYWHERE out there! I pulled one off the back of my neck! {shudder}
So sad!!! That's why we can't have a dog....I get too emotional when something happens to them.
thats sad. its hard when animals are sick because they cant really tell you. Glad she is feeling better. $200 isnt bad, if it were a human it would have cost like $1000 with the sedation and everything, so thats not too bad...and totally worth it!
Oh poor thing, glad she's doing better!
Poor doggy! I'm glad that you decided to take her in though. Glad she's doing better
I hope you don't mind that I found your blog from Marsha's. I am her best friend from Enterprise, and Luke was like my big brother growing up! I was sad to hear about your not being pregnant, we have some friends that did that and they got triplets! So stay positive, you could get 3! :)
